The Reformed Church

The Blessing Box
Outside the doors of The Reformed Church, you'll find this community supported food pantry offering non-perishable items to anyone in need. This ministry was launched with a co-sponsorship by Gene Cook Supports LLC, a local organization dedicated to empowering individuals with special needs. Over the years it has become the heart of our mission work in our area. We are working to expand the pantry in size and what it offers with freshly baked bread available weekly as well.
Each Communion Sunday, we invite our church family to bring donation, which we bless at the altar before stocking the pantry throughout the week. This practice connects God's table to the winder table of community care, ensuring that love and nourishment extend beyond our wells. If you need support, the pantry is always open. The Scottdale Library has one of their own as well.
Take what you need, leave what you can--because love always multiplies.

Scottdale Area Association of Churches
SAAC is a collaborative network uniting various Christian denominations in the Scottdale community. Our mission is to embody the unity of the greater Church by providing shared worship opportunities and supporting local missions that individual congregations might find challenging to sustain alone.
As a resource hub, SAAC directs individuals to numerous organizations and initiatives within our community, addressing diverse needs and fostering collective well-being. Notably, we fund and operate the local food bank, ensuring that essential resources are accessible to those in need.
-
Monthly Meetings: First Tuesday of every month at noon, hosted at Scottdale Mennonite Church. All are welcome!
-
Food Bank Distribution: Held on the 2nd Wednesday each month from 10:00 a.m. to noon at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, located at 525 Porter Avenue, Scottdale, PA 15683.
Through these collaborative efforts, SAAC strives to strengthen our community by embodying the love and service that define our shared faith. Being part of this combination of churches and efforts means when someone calls our church for help, we have mission partners to lean on. Our support to this organization allows us to be able to help more than we could alone as Christ intended.

A Space For All of God's Beloved
The Reformed Church is honored to partner with Gene Cook Supports LLC, a local organization dedicated to serving individuals with special needs. Through this partnership, we provide space for yoga classes, healthy cooking workshops, music sessions, and other activities that support growth, wellness, and community.
We believe in creating a space where everyone belongs, recognizing that each of us has unique gifts and needs. By listening and responding to those we serve, we seek to build a community that is truly inclusive, supportive, and rooted in love.

Scottdale Public Library
Access to knowledge and resources is essential for a thriving community. As part of our commitment to local outreach, we provide financial support to the Scottdale Public Library each year, helping sustain its mission of education and accessibility for all.
This partnership is more than just funding—it’s about collaboration. Through the All Together Movement, we work alongside the library and other local organizations to bring resources into one central hub, making it easier for individuals and families to find the support they need.
Together, we’re building a stronger, more connected community where everyone has access to learning, opportunity, and care.

Supporting Those Who Serve
Each year, we provide financial support to the Scottdale and Everson Fire Departments as a commitment to those who protect and serve our community. Their dedication ensures the safety and well-being of our neighbors, and we are honored to contribute to their vital work.

Expanding Our Mission to All of Creation
Our commitment to love and service goes beyond people—it extends to all of God’s creation. We are currently using a mission grant to upgrade our outdoor food pantry. Once completed we will revamp our old pantry box for a pet pantry.

The Light & Love Tree Project
Christmas is a season of joy, warmth, and togetherness—but for many families, the simple beauty of a decorated home feels out of reach. While resources often exist for gifts and meals, finding a Christmas tree and decorations can be a challenge for those in need.
That’s why our Associate Minister, Nicole Tascarella, started The Light & Love Tree Project—a ministry dedicated to collecting and distributing Christmas trees, ornaments, and festive décor to help families create a home filled with the warmth of the season. Inspired by a single mother in Butler who has given out hundreds of trees over the years, we aspire to carry this vision forward in our own community.
A decorated tree is more than just décor—it’s a symbol of hope, joy, and belonging. By sharing the light and love of Christmas, we help ensure that every home can shine a little brighter this season.

In the Community
At The Reformed Church in Scottdale, we may be a small congregation, but our hearts are big and our mission is growing beyond our walls. We believe church isn’t confined to Sunday mornings — it’s lived out in the streets, parks, and trails of our community every day.
This past year, we’ve been busy putting faith into action. We joined our neighbors for Trail Day and the Halloween Story Walk on the Coke and Coal Trail, opened our doors during the Community Yard Sale to give vendors a space to sell and families a place to gather, and shared food with those in need — including freshly baked bread made with love.
At Community Days in Louck’s Park, we set up a table for kids to make crafts and take something home that reminded them they’re loved and part of something bigger.
Every act of service, every loaf of bread, every shared smile reflects our mission to be the hands and heart of Christ right here in Scottdale — reaching beyond the church building to meet people where they are.
We’re not a large church, but we’re a faithful one, and we’re committed to continuing this journey of love, service, and community connection together.

Love First Suppers
we believe that something sacred happens when people share a meal. Our dream is to create a monthly community dinner — a hot meal offered free for everyone, not just for those who are food insecure, but for anyone who hungers for connection, encouragement, and fellowship.
Each meal would be served in our church fellowship hall, with a free-will offering available. This offering isn’t required — it’s simply a way for those who are able to help support the cost of meals and extend care to neighbors who come in need.
This isn’t just about food — it’s about community. It’s about being together, breaking bread, and making space for grace.
To make this happen, we need volunteers — people with a heart to serve others. You do not have to join our church to join this mission. Just come with a willingness to help and a desire to love your neighbors.
We’re looking for people who can:
-
Cook or serve meals
-
Set up and clean up tables
-
Greet and visit with guests
-
Offer prayer and encouragement
-
Or simply be present in fellowship and care
Right now, this is still a dream and a prayer — something we trust God will bring to life through the right people at the right time. Maybe you are one of them.
If your heart is stirred to serve, reach out to Pastor TJ at pastor@lovestrucc.org.
Together, we can build a table where everyone belongs, and love is always the first ingredient.
