God of Justice and Mercy,
We come before You broken and weary as we hear the news from Minneapolis. Another act of violence has shaken us, another reminder that our children and teachers walk daily into a world where safety is never guaranteed.
Lord, we know these tragedies do not happen in isolation. They are born out of pain that runs deep—systems that leave people feeling unseen, unheard, and without hope.
Cycles of poverty, untreated mental illness, generational trauma, and the crushing weight of inequity all create fertile ground for despair and destruction. We grieve not only the violence itself but the roots that feed it.
We cry out to You, God—interrupt these cycles. Heal the wounds that run through our communities. Raise up leaders with courage to address what is broken in our systems, not just patch over the pain. Call us as Your people to be bold in our witness, to demand peace, justice, and healing in places where fear and violence seem to reign.
Wrap Your arms around our children as they begin this school year. Calm their fears, protect their bodies and spirits, and remind them they are beloved. Strengthen every teacher, counselor, bus driver, and staff member tasked not only with education but with safeguarding lives.
Lord, we are desperate for relief. We are tired of headlines soaked in grief. Let Your Spirit move across this land until every child knows peace, every classroom feels safe, and every person is treated with dignity and care.
In Christ’s name, who weeps with us and walks with us, we pray, Amen.
