Introducing Another Voice

It’s important to me that I’m not the only one sharing Spirit-led messages within our church. I deeply believe in the sainthood of all believers — that each of us is called to be a minister of Christ through the witness of our faith. Because of that, you’ll occasionally see other voices shared here as well.

One of those voices I’m excited to introduce is Doug Wigginton, a retired Chaplain whose reflections have been a gift to many. His personal Facebook posts are so meaningful that I asked for permission to share them with a wider audience. Here is his most recent message:

Post Resurrection Appearances: Fear Not

By Doug Wigginton

For Christians who observe the Church Calendar, we have now entered the seven-week Easter season, a time of profound significance in our faith. After His resurrection, Jesus made several post-resurrection appearances to Mary Magdalene, the other women at the tomb, Peter, two disciples on the road to Emmaus, the eleven apostles, and Thomas. He also appeared to James and a group of over 500 people.

Even though Jesus had explained many times that He would rise from the dead and assured them that He would not leave or forsake them (John 14:18), they still struggled to comprehend the full depth of His promise. Understandably, their initial reaction was one of fear. In those vulnerable moments, Jesus lovingly addressed them with the words, “Do not be afraid.” He recognized the turmoil they were experiencing and understood the importance of delivering this comforting message during such a challenging time.

His guidance remains relevant for us today. Beneath our many concerns, we might also fear inviting Him into our lives for various reasons, a more common feeling than we realize.

So, no matter how overwhelming your fears may feel, please remember that you are held by a God greater than any challenge you face. His comforting presence is always with you, a constant source of strength and courage. Take a moment to grasp His promise and let it be your anchor during these turbulent times. You are deeply loved, strengthened, and supported by the mighty hand of God. With Him beside you, you have the courage to confront anything life throws your way. You are not alone in this.

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”  Isaiah 41:10
