Finding the Great I Am

The Noise and the Truth of Who We Are

This past Ash Wednesday, we heard the trumpet blast of Joel. We were called to "rend our hearts" and unmask the performative noise of the world—the "vipers" and the "hypocrites" that Matthew warns us about, who thrive on public show and the "net" of worldly approval.

We named the reality of the static we live in. Now, we begin the work of listening for a different frequency.

The Great I Am

If Ash Wednesday was about seeing the world’s noise for what it is, Lent is about grounding ourselves in the only Voice that matters. This foundation of our series for lent comes from who God says God is in Exodus 3:14—"I AM WHO I AM."

Before we can discern who we are in the middle of the daily grind, we have to stand on the ground of the One who simply is. God doesn't need the world's scripts, and neither do you.

A Season of Discernment

Over the next few weeks, we are going to look at the "I AM" statements of Jesus from the Gospel of John as a discernment exercise for our daily lives. We are going to hold Christ’s steady truth up against the loud, shaky lies we hear every day:

The Bread of Life:

When the world tells you that you are defined by your hunger or your lack, how do we feed on the Truth?

The Light of the World:

When the vipers try to keep us in the dark of fear, how do we see the path clearly?

The Good Shepherd:

When the systems of 2026 treat us like products, how do we hear the voice of the One who protects us?

The True Vine:

When we are told our only worth is our "output," how do we find life just by staying connected?

Who Are You Really?

This Lent, we are loosening our grip on the false identities the world handed us. We are taking the prophetic call from Ash Wednesday—the call to turn back to God with all our heart—and using it to reshape our day-to-day lives.

The world is loud, but the "I AM" is steady. Let’s find out who we are in relation to the only One who is truly real and good

Join us this Sunday as we begin with "The Bread of Life."
